A fellowship gathers around him to protect the ringbearer as they travel toward Mount Doom, the sole place where the ring can be destroyed. Their mission depends on reaching that destination safely.

Frodo Baggins and Sam continue toward Mordor, carrying the One Ring of Power and seeking to destroy it. Elsewhere, Gimli, Legolas, and Aragorn pursue the orcs who captured Merry and Pippin. The Fellowship has divided across separate paths, while Saruman waits at Orthanc Tower in Isengard and Sauron holds his fortress at Barad-dur in Mordor. Each group moves toward the two towers as the sacred quest continues.
