After a massive meteor shower ends the world and kills his son, Sam, a broken man, is forced to survive underground. With his trusted friend Troy and a young woman named Rose, he travels through the underground world alongside a ragtag crew of heavily armed rangers while hunted by mutated creatures, bandits, and cannibals. Their defiance to return home is challenged as friendship, selflessness, and courage face death.
