Lathika is happily engaged to her cousin, who works abroad, and spends her time waiting for him to return. Her circumstances change when she becomes pregnant, placing the expected reunion alongside an unexpected new responsibility. She gives birth to a son, and the story follows Lathika as her engagement, her absent fiancé, and her child shape the situation before her.
