Timo, a student at Rome’s Gladiators’ Academy, has no ambition to follow his stepfather into a legendary gladiator’s life. His plans change when Lucilla enters his life, and he decides to become the gladiator she dreams of. With help from an unlikely band of sidekicks, Timo begins an action-packed effort to become a champion and pursue victory in the Colosseum, where he aims to become its first victor.
