In a contemporary rural Indian town, the lives of three generations of women unfold alongside one another. Vijaya is a recently widowed young woman struggling with deep depression; the others are her elderly aunt and Sonia, a woman in her early twenties. Together, they face personal problems as their village experiences increasing urbanization, shifting attitudes, and the weakening of established cultural values.
