Drawing satirically on Miguel López de Legazpi’s archived letters, the film sends a 16th-century Spanish expedition into present-day Cebu. Their encounter with the island’s natives reproduces the difficulties described in the historical record, eventually prompting the expedition to abandon Cebu and continue toward other Philippine islands.
