Evgeniy Onegin, weary of Moscow's endless round of parties and theater, arrives at his uncle's country estate expecting to tend a sick relative. Instead, with the wealthy uncle dead and no other heirs, Onegin inherits the property and settles into reclusive country life. The stillness breaks when the wide-eyed Vladimir Lenskiy takes the neighboring estate and introduces Onegin to his sisters, Tatyana and Olga.
