Tommy Shelby has been living in self-exile, removed from his Birmingham life. That distance becomes untenable when his estranged son is pulled into a Nazi plot. The gangster is forced to come home, returning to a city he once left behind. But the conspiracy extends beyond his son, endangering the family and threatening the nation itself. Reunited by crisis, father and son must now face the same entanglement, with Tommy confronting dangers he believed he had escaped.
