In Bombay, petty thief Raja survives through pickpocketing, while dancer Rani earns a living on the same city’s streets. Their meeting leads to love. In Madras, cycle-company owner Raghu lives comfortably with his wife Sarala and children, while manager Madhu diverts company money with his lover Manorama. Losses close the business, leaving Sarala and the children in poverty as Raghu becomes drawn to Manorama.
