After Mumine’s husband is arrested as a Crimean Tatar political prisoner, she must care for their four children while confronting the consequences of renewed oppression. The documentary also follows Maye, another strong woman whose life reflects the persecution faced by Muslim Crimean Tatars, from Stalin’s deportations and their return under Gorbachev to renewed persecution after Crimea’s 2014 occupation. In private moments, both women face helplessness alongside their resolve.
