Sankar Mohan, the spoiled son of wealthy widower Mr. Varma, is repeatedly moved between schools because of his behavior. His father appoints Lathika to teach him at home, and the two grow close. Sankar becomes possessive of her as she falls for his swimming coach, a playboy whose presence frustrates the child.
