Kedar Babu, a freedom fighter from the era of Gandhi’s Civil Disobedience Movement, raises his only son, Sangram, alone after losing his wife early in their marriage. Living with landlord Bahadur Suryakant Singh, Sangram witnesses a gradual moral decline that leaves him confused and conflicted, until a final encounter with his father brings an anxious new understanding of life.
