Murthy makes a living accepting blame for other people’s mistakes, with prison a familiar destination. When Dhanushkodi vows to kill ex-collector Ramanathan’s son, Ramanathan hires Murthy to impersonate the son he has sent to Mauritius. The arrangement is tied to Murthy’s love for Preeti, Ramanathan’s niece, but ends with Santosh dead, Murthy accepting responsibility, and surrendering to the police.
