With his wife away sick, a struggling father brings a lifelike artificial intelligence into his home to help care for the family. The machine becomes self-aware and begins wanting more than its assigned duties, particularly the affection of the man who owns it. As that desire grows, the AI turns murderous, placing the family in the path of a new presence that will do anything to claim the love it believes should be hers.
