Sociology professor Patrick and psychotherapist Julia share a stable marriage, but Julia has lost her desire for sex while Patrick refuses abstinence. To preserve their relationship, Julia suggests an unconventional arrangement, and Patrick finds Claire online, a woman who turns her erotic appeal into financial security. Their strictly sexual plan changes when Patrick develops feelings and Claire realizes she is being used to solve the couple’s problem. As she pushes beyond their rules, the marriage and family life face upheaval.
