During a weekend with their grandparents, four-year-old Tom, eight-year-old Suzanne, and ten-year-old Derek find the household changed. Grandpa seems distracted, Grandma is absent, and Derek focuses on renovating the old hut in the apple tree. When Tom misses the incredible stories Grandma usually tells him, Suzanne follows her ancestor’s example and becomes the family storyteller, using imaginative tales to brighten the house and ease her younger brother’s sense of absence.
