Rasappan, an unemployed man in love with his sister’s daughter Meena, faces her refusal to marry a jobless groom. Following his uncle’s advice, he enters politics and joins Paramasivan’s party. When villagers back Velusamy against Paramasivan in an MLA election, Rasappan urges voters to support Velusamy and wins the seat. As an honest representative, he persuades villagers to place their savings in a new bank, but a manager’s scam and Paramasivan’s scheme send him to jail, leaving the villagers to turn against him.
