Sixteen-year-old Fatima, born in Calabria to Muslim parents, feels isolated while wearing the veil required by her culture and imposed by her mother. When her physical education teacher invites students to enter the Sant’Antonio Marathon, it offers Fatima an opportunity, but Michele’s prejudice toward her veil complicates her chance to participate. The former runner is also carrying an unresolved past and a failed relationship.
