In Argentina during the 1970s, a desperate young woman seeks a clandestine abortion, but a doctor refuses because the pregnancy has passed its fourth month. The doctor instead proposes selling the unborn child to one of her clients and offers the woman a place to stay until the birth. As they remain together, the two women become entangled in a strange and dangerous relationship shaped by the proposed arrangement.
