Seven centuries after Dante Alighieri’s death, filmmaker Adolfo Conti travels through Italy guided by the poet’s words and by an effort to see the country through Dante’s eyes. Along the way, the film considers the breadth of Dante’s work, from theology and philosophy to science, politics, and literature, while art, Tuscany’s landscapes, natural forces, and the poet’s dramatic life come into view.
