During Christmas break at a New England prep school, a curmudgeonly instructor is required to stay on campus and look after the handful of students who have nowhere else to go. Among them is a damaged, brainy troublemaker, and the two eventually form an unlikely bond. The instructor also grows close to the school’s head cook, who has recently lost a son in Vietnam.
