After the fall of communism, Andrei, a sensitive and socially awkward young man, turns to acting while searching for true happiness. As an illusion of freedom and democracy gives way to brutal events marking Romania's recent history, he finds comfort playing Aliosa in a stage adaptation of The Brothers Karamazov and gradually draws closer to the character's path toward understanding divinity.
