In Uruguay in 1972, television comedy writers Diego and Leonardo face pressure to soften their political satire as the country falls under dictatorship. Meanwhile, Rojas, the lieutenant responsible for torturing subversive youth, finds emotional refuge with Susana, a prostitute. The dictatorship gradually reshapes the lives of all four.
