After police inspector Pratap Singh is killed, his father Samsher Singh raises Pratap’s son, Kunal, following the deaths of the child’s mother and father. Samsher eventually becomes the wealthy businessman Sobhraj, while Kunal is brought up by Abu Baba to value honesty and independence. Kunal falls in love with Durga, the daughter of Sobhraj’s imprisoned former employee, but their relationship meets Sobhraj’s opposition, forcing the family into a moral and financial confrontation.
