Actor
Ranveer Singh is an Indian actor whose Hindi-film career began with a leading role in the 2010 romantic comedy Band Baaja Baaraat. From that debut, he moved through romantic dramas, ensemble comedy-drama, historical romance, action films, and contemporary stories. His credits include Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, Gully Boy, 83, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and Singham Again.
Before entering films, Singh completed a bachelor's degree at Indiana University, Bloomington, then returned to India to pursue acting. His first screen role arrived in 2010, when he played Bittoo Sharma in Yash Raj Films' Band Baaja Baaraat. The romantic comedy became both a critical and commercial success, and Singh received the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.
His early follow-ups established a varied screen presence. He played Varun Srivastav in the 2013 romantic drama Lootera and Ram Rajadi in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, also released in 2013. Both films were among his biggest commercial successes at that stage. In 2014, he appeared as Bikram Bose in the action-drama Gunday, alongside roles in Kill Dil and Finding Fanny.
A major milestone came with Bajirao Mastani, the 2015 historical romance in which Singh portrayed Peshwa Bajirao Ballaad. The film became one of Bollywood's highest-grossing productions, while Singh received critical acclaim and won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor. That same year, he played Kabir Mehra in the ensemble comedy-drama Dil Dhadakne Do. Later roles included Dharam in Befikre, Sultan Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat, and Sangram 'Simmba' Bhalerao in Simmba.
His subsequent credits continued across different formats and characters. He played Murad Ahmed in Gully Boy, appeared as Kapil Dev in 83, and returned as Sangram 'Simmba' Bhalerao in Sooryavanshi. More recent appearances include Jayesh in Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Roy Chauhan and Roy Shenoy in Cirkus, Rocky Randhawa in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and Sangram Bhalerao in Singham Again. The supplied credits also list The Romantics, Ranveer vs Wild with Bear Grylls, Dhurandhar, and Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
