Teahouse owner Zhao Pan’er travels from Qiantang to the capital after learning that her fiancé abandoned her for the daughter of a high-ranking officer. Joined by friends Sun Sanniang and Song Yinzhang, whose lives she saves along the way, she crosses paths with commander Gu Qianfan, who is investigating a court scheme after being set up by his own allies. Though they initially clash, Zhao and Gu begin helping one another pursue the truth.
