Together, they created the Angry Young Man, a brooding anti-hero defined by rage, defiance, and a quest for social justice. Their rise also challenged the film industry’s treatment of writers, as they demanded recognition alongside its reigning stars. Their eventual separation ended a powerful collaboration.
