Following his release from prison, convicted murderer Max Cady turns his attention to the family of the married attorneys whose legal work helped put him behind bars. He begins inserting himself into their household, working his way closer to the people who once secured his conviction. The legal couple and their family find themselves the focus of a deliberate campaign by a man with a violent past. As Cady continues his infiltration, the attorneys face the reality that their former adversary has returned to their personal lives.
