Sixteen-year-old Erik is expelled from his Stockholm school after repeated violent behavior and sent to Stjernsberg boarding school, where he is given one final opportunity to remain in education and leave his old life behind. Instead, he encounters even harsher violence than he knew at home, while beginning a forbidden relationship with Marja, a member of the school kitchen staff.
