A New York City pizza delivery boy named Philip J. Fry is accidentally cryogenically frozen at the close of the twentieth century and wakes up a thousand years later in the 31st. Stranded in a retro-futuristic world, he takes a job at Planet Express, an interplanetary delivery company, and begins adjusting to life among his new coworkers and the strange era he now inhabits. Each shift brings fresh encounters on distant planets and within the city itself, as Fry tries to make sense of the future that has replaced everything he once knew.
