In late-1980s Pavia, Max, a teenager drawn to comic books, American music and punk nights, falls behind at school before transferring to a new high school. There he meets Mauro, whose encouragement helps Max develop his musical talent. Together they write songs that Claudio Cecchetto agrees to produce, but growing success puts pressure on the friendship between the two young musicians.
