Original title: அம்பிகாபதி
In the Chola Empire of 1083 AD, poet Kambar’s son Ambikapathy loves Amaravati, daughter of King Kulothunga Chola. The king objects to the relationship and decides to judge Ambikapathy’s worth through a literary challenge. In the royal court, Ambikapathy must write and sing one hundred poems on war and politics, without referring to love or romance. Amaravati keeps count, but counts the opening invocation as the first poem, complicating the test as it begins.
