Rich landlord Dharmalingam disowns his eldest son after the son marries Kamala, a poor teacher’s daughter. When the son dies, Kamala is left homeless with her child, and police officer Nathan offers her shelter while helping her pursue a property case. Her murder before the court hearing implicates Dharmalingam and his son Shankar. Nathan investigates as Shankar loves his sister Uma, while Nathan loves Dharmalingam’s daughter Sarasu.
