After losing his luggage on a train, Rajan finds himself working as a driver in Dharmalingam’s family. There he falls in love with Gomathy, the household’s eldest daughter. Gomathy is also the daughter of the Mullaivaasal Zamindar, whose family is an arch-rival of Rajan’s. Their romance therefore unfolds within the strain between the two opposing families.
