Two tenants and their landlord are desperate for money when a cross connection lets them overhear a ransom call. Seeing an opportunity, they devise a plan to claim the ransom for themselves. The trio must now act on information intended for someone else while trying to secure the payment. Their scheme places them in the middle of a criminal situation, where the prospect of solving their financial problems depends on successfully taking over the ransom arrangement.
