Three mechanics employed by a car company are irresponsible husbands whose drinking and unnecessary spending consume much of their salaries. At home, their wives struggle to manage their households with the little money left by the men. Their already strained domestic lives are disrupted when a couple moves in next door, bringing an unexpected change to the routines and relationships of the three husbands and their families.
