Sudhakaran, a manager at an interstate bus office, plans to marry Ramani after she completes her studies. Those hopes collapse when his father, a palmist, predicts that their marriage will cause Sudhakaran’s death, leading Ramani to refuse the match. Seeing Sudhakaran’s troubled state, Panikkar offers to find him a suitable bride. Though hesitant, Sudhakaran marries Hrudayakumari, whose childlike stubbornness soon vexes both him and his mother.
