After being evicted, Valerio and his six-year-old son, Carlo, hide in the attic above their former apartment. They frighten each new tenant by posing as ghosts, hoping to reclaim their home. For Carlo, the game offers protection from poverty and life without his mother. Their plan works until Myriam and her daughter Emma move in while fleeing Myriam’s abusive husband, and Myriam refuses to fear them.
