Thirteen-year-old Nina is uprooted from central Rome to a grey suburban neighborhood, where she lives amid a messy family, scooter-riding boys, and a grandmother devoted to card games. Her world shifts when she meets Sirley, another thirteen-year-old from French Guiana who lives across the way and dances the Lambada. As Sirley pursues her dream of interpreting Madonna in the neighborhood procession, the girls form an intense bond that forces Nina to find her place in the world and within her family.
