Tamako, a popular fortune teller, has raised her son Tadao alone in an old house surrounded by new buildings. Because Tadao has an intellectual disability and autism, neighbors complain about his unpredictable behavior. When a place opens for him in a group home connected to his workshop, Tamako arranges the move toward independent living, but the unfamiliar environment confuses him.
