In Derry in 1962, unexplained disappearances of local children unsettle the town. A group of misfit friends begins investigating, suspecting that an ancient evil lies buried beneath what is happening. As the events continue, several townspeople work together in an effort to restore peace, while a U.S. military operation responds according to its own objectives. The children’s search and the adults’ response unfold alongside one another as Derry confronts the disturbing incidents.
