Sasaki is an overworked salaryman moving through the corporate grind with cigarettes and the cheerful service of Yamada, the clerk at his favorite supermarket, helping sustain him. After a grueling shift, he arrives late one night and discovers that Yamada is nowhere to be seen. With no place left to smoke, Sasaki’s spirits sink. Then a pierced young woman calls out to him, offering him a place where he can smoke and interrupting his difficult end to the day.
